350 Gallons of Fun

This weekend we went to the indoor water park at the Grand Harbor Resort on the Dubuque riverfront. Wesley (who thinks that Simon is named after him) wanted to celebrate his 6th birthday with family, so we met in Dubuque which was halfway for his grandparents in Sioux City. It was a ton of fun! They had a lazy river, a few water slides, some tubin' action and this ginormous structure that dumped 350 gallons of water everywhere every 8 minutes. Simon and I partook of the action a little bit as seen below.

Audrey, who swims like a fish, hung out with us in the kiddie pool and held Simon a little. He did pretty good. It was a little overwhelming, but it was a good experience. He just needs to be more mindful of mischievous uncles with buckets of water.

This afternoon when we brought Simon home from daycare, he was in rare form. He's doing a lot more with his hands and from time to time presses his fingers together like Montgomery Burns. He had a lot to say...

Then mommy picked him up and he got happy again.

And as usual, Simon is entranced by ceiling fans and bright shiny things like faucets. Eventually, we plan to put a ceiling fan in his room, but for now he hangs in the sun room or our room and watches those. And, while playing on our bed today, Deborah showed him the fan after I turned it on.
